Frail is a great short reminiscent of Artificial Intelligence and Edward Scissorhands with an elegant and rustic feel. A man so grief stricken and unable to cope with the reality of his existence that he re-creates the life he once knew. Simon Svercel is really great and very convincing of his loneliness and confusion. Christoph Gaugler commands the screen and does an exceptional job of illustrating his pain. The film is beautiful, eerie and through the weather and rural setting the director communicates the sorrowful mood of Christoph Gaugler, which he did so effortlessly. It’s interesting that the movie is classified as a horror film, because while it was great, I was forced to dock an entire point for not being scary (see our rating system here). Overall bravo!
