Topeka State Hospital, formerly know as Topeka Insane Asylum was a real American Horror Story for the patients. One newspaper reported told of “a patient confined in leather straps so long, the skin was growing around the straps.” There were other horror stories about patients being raped, neglected, abused and forced sterilizations.
