Before I Wake is categorized as horror but leaves the unsavory impression of a fantasy film. The overall concept of Before I Wake is strong on its own but unfortunately it is poorly executed. The film starts on a high note with fantastic acting from both Kate Bosworth (Jessie) and Jacob Tremblay (Cody), but toward the end it completely falls apart leaving many questions unanswered and the audience scratching their head with confusion. In its entirety Before I Wake is not complete dread but it lacks depth and sensibility.
