A woman dressed in a white dress, disheveled and scared crosses your path in the back country roads, what do you do? Your choices are limited, you keep running (driving) because whoever is chasing her is coming after you, or you help her. Seems pretty obvious, but lucky for the viewer, Blackbird isn’t that transparent and offers a great twist. The cinematography is absolutely stunning, the setting is eerie and the exquisite use of music makes for a great short. The horror elements are elegant and leave a lot to the imagination, which I find refreshing. Blackbird is well poised for a feature film and it would be exciting to see a feature departing from the traditional tactics of the torture genre.
